Remuneration: Competitive salary, dependent upon experience- plus £1000 working from home allowance
Contract Type: Permanent/ 40hours per week
Location: Home-based/various UK meeting locations as required

The 3rd Line IT Engineer is responsible for handling escalated technical issues and support activities, Problem management, IT system maintenance, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT services. This role requires a detail-oriented mindset to thrive in a dynamic technical environment. Working on complex technical problems, this role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently and provide high-level technical support.
This is a home-based role (applicants must reside in the UK), though occasional travel may be required for face-to-face meetings at various locations within the UK.
As our 3rd Line IT Engineer, you will:
- Handle complex issues escalated from 1st/2nd line, including VIP support for executive users.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues. Support major incident resolution and advise the Service Desk team on potential risks.
- Manage OS and application patching, perform daily health checks, and maintain Microsoft backups and security groups.
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365 applications, Entra security groups, MS Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, MS Teams, and SharePoint administration.
- Support Power Apps and Flows.
- Provide 2nd line cover as needed and participate in a weekend on-call rota.
- adoption of Microsoft productivity tools and create clear technical documentation for internal use.
To succeed as our 3rd Line IT Engineer, you will be:
A proactive and adaptable team player with excellent communication skills. You’ll demonstrate a customer-focused mindset, able to explain complex issues in simple terms and build trust across all levels of the organisation, including executive stakeholders. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a calm, solution-oriented approach under pressure are essential. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, taking initiative, and working both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced support environment.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Working in a technical support role, with experience in 3rd line support preferred.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft technologies (Intune, SharePoint, Teams), and excellent communication abilities.
- Proven experience in AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) support and configuration
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
- Solid background in Problem Management, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving root causes
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools, ideally with Atlassian Administration experience
- Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rota
