About Us:
Psychiatry UK is the UK’s leading provider of digital psychiatry services, working both privately and with the NHS to support children, teenagers and adults with expert, patient-centred care.
A career with Psychiatry UK allows you to expand your knowledge, enhance your skills, and gain valuable life experience—all while enjoying the flexibility of a remote full-time role. As part of a leading online mental health service, you'll collaborate with innovative, forward-thinking professionals in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to making a real difference.
The ADHD Specialist GP plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within Psychiatry UK’s ADHD service. Reporting to the Titration Team Lead and working in close collaboration with Consultant Psychiatrists, the postholder is responsible for the treatment and ongoing management of adults with ADHD, including the independent or supplementary prescribing of ADHD medication in accordance with national guidance and Psychiatry UK clinical policies. Clinical supervision is provided by the ADHD Clinical Leadership team.
The ADHD Specialist GP will exercise a high level of autonomous clinical judgement to initiate, titrate, and monitor treatment, evaluate therapeutic effectiveness, manage clinical risk, and ensure safe and effective prescribing, while consistently upholding professional, ethical, and governance standards. Through collaborative multidisciplinary working, the role contributes to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement, supporting Psychiatry UK’s commitment to innovation and excellence in mental healthcare.
This is a home-based role (applicants must be UK-resident), with occasional travel required for face-to-face meetings at various locations across the UK.
As our ADHD Specialist GP, you will:
• Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing for adults with ADHD, in line with NICE guidance, Psychiatry UK clinical policies, and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Prescribing Framework.
• Manage a defined caseload of patients throughout titration and ongoing treatment, ensuring timely review of treatment response, side effects, adherence, and physical health parameters, including patients with physical health complexity.
• Communicate with patients via Psychiatry UK’s secure digital portal, providing clear, supportive, and clinically appropriate responses to medication-related queries.
• Complete End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs) and undertake annual medication reviews in a timely, thorough, and patient-centred manner to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Exercise independent or supplementary prescribing rights within scope of practice, recognising professional limitations and seeking senior clinical advice when required.
• Provide clinical support and guidance to fellow prescribers, particularly in relation to physical health co-morbidities.
• Work collaboratively with Consultant Psychiatrists and the wider ADHD multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.
• Undertake regular risk assessments and review safeguarding concerns, escalating appropriately in accordance with organisational policy.
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential clinical records using Psychiatry UK’s digital systems, in line with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
• Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and prescribing reviews to support clinical governance and service development.
• Engage in regular clinical supervision, peer support, and team learning to maintain high standards of clinical decision-making.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Psychiatry UK’s prescribing pathways, titration protocols, and service delivery models.
• Support the delivery of internal and external education and training sessions, sharing specialist knowledge and best practice.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, prescribing guidance, and organisational policies, demonstrating a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
The ADHD Specialist GP will hold prescribing responsibility within the titration team. Supervisory and appraisal responsibility will sit with an ADHD Clinical Lead, in line with RCGP guidance. Applications are welcomed from candidates currently practising as a GPwER in ADHD.
To succeed as our ADHD Specialist GP, you will have:
Demonstrable clinical experience in the assessment and management of ADHD in adults. Training will be provided in the prescribing and titration of ADHD medication. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to engage clearly and sensitively both remotely and in written formats, and to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
You will be proficient in the use of ADHD rating scales, validated screening and outcome-monitoring tools, and have a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, particularly within remote and digital models of care.
You will also demonstrate a sound understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards, and current developments in ADHD services and prescribing practice.
